Home Talent Baseball - Evansville Jays

The Home Talent Baseball League is Wisconsin's largest adult amateur baseball league and is one of the oldest in the United States.  The league started in 1929, and now has grown to 44 teams in south-central Wisconsin.  Local area communities such as Stoughton, Oregon, Albion and Orfordville all have teams.

Evansville had many Home Talent teams dating back to the 1930s with the latest franchise, the Jays, starting in the 2005 season.  Our baseball team provides free entertainment to the community on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights during the summer months. Our team also provides an outlet for our Evansville area residents (no age limits) who enjoy playing competitive baseball. For schedule and info, please see Evansville Jays website……

Bowling

Evansville Bowl (108 East Main Street) has eight air-conditioned lanes and has men's, women's, mixed and junior leagues as well as open bowling.  Bar & grill.  Call (608) 882-5210 for more information.

Runs

The annual Gibb’s Lake Gallop is a 5k run/walk in the beauty of Gibbs Lake County Park on Memorial Day morning, finishing in time for the Memorial Day parade and services.  The run benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Since 1995, Aunt Leota’s Grove Chase has been part of the Fourth of July Celebration.  Depending on your skill level, it offers a 1 mile walk, 1 mile kids run, 5 k run/walk, and 10k run.

Bicycling

Rock County offers over 200 miles of bike trails on paved county roads.  The bikeway is signed, with easy routes on low traffic county roads.  Signed bike paths in Evansville link the parks, downtown, and residential neighborhoods.

In nearby Albany, the Sugar River Trail is a 23-mile recreational trail used extensively by bicyclists.  This crushed limestone trail follows a former rail corridor and allows a relaxing ride through beautiful pastoral settings.  For a map and more on the Sugar River Trail, please click here……

Horseback Riding

Bridle trails at Gibbs Lake and Magnolia Bluff County Parks provide convenient opportunities for horseback riding.  All trails are open to the public every day in season from dawn to dusk.

The Gibbs Lake Park bridle path is 3.8 miles in length.  Parking for horse trailers is permitted in the equestrian parking lot only.   No horses are permitted in the lake or picnic area.  This trail provides an easy ride.  For a map and more info on Gibbs Lake Park, please click here……

The Magnolia Bluff Park bridle path is just less than three miles.  It was made possible through the efforts of the Tri-County Riders Club and is also open for walking, providing due respect is given to horse riders and horses encountered while on the trail.   The trail starts and ends in the upper area of the park.  It is marked with a starting sign and universal marking signs on red posts.  This trail should be ridden in a counterclockwise direction.  For a map and more info on Magnolia Bluff Park, please click here…..
