Starting a Business

Evansville fosters an entrepreneurial environment and encourages business growth. Check out some of these resources:

Eager Free Public Library offers business related books and periodicals, access to the ReferenceUSA business database, and free computer classes.

Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club (I&E) has a mission to increase networking and referrals within the community, to provide educational opportunities through speakers, and a chance for local businesses and non-profits to build awareness by facilitating the networking of entrepreneurs, inventors, and investors to help bring new business ideas to fruition.

Accelerate Your Business - Rock County 5.0 is a public/private development initiative designed to reposition and revitalize Rock County's economy; one of its core strategies focuses on small business and entrepreneurism.  June to september, they offer the Accelerate Your Business Plan Contest to connect concepts with capital.

Business 101 - Rock County Economic Development Alliance with the Small Business Development Center is hosting a free Business 101 course in Janesville.  An informal "Continue the Conversation" follows each class, allowing participants extra opportunity to network and discuss the program.

Entrepreneur Hub (E-Hub) - Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board is collaborating with the Small Business Development Center to provide a six week program in business practices, business ethics, and business engagement in the community.  It also provides peer-to-peer networking and resources among its participants.  It is geared toward existing businesses needing to "re-boot" and to entrepreneurs interested in starting a new business.
