Parking

Evansville has four free day-time municipal parking lots in the downtown area. One is located behind the Grange Store building in the southwest block of Main & Madison Streets and can be accessed from West Main Street or Church Street. The second is located behind Luchsinger Realty on northwest block of Main & Madison Streets and can be accessed from Montgomery Court.  The third is located behind the Night Owl Tavern at the corner of East Main & Maple Streets and can be accessed from Maple Street.  The fourth is adjacent to 11 W. Church St. and can be accessed from Church St.

Please note that overnight parking in the municipal lots requires a permit issued by the Police Department.

Winter parking regulations require residents to park on alternating sides of the streets from November 15 through April 15 to accommodate snow removal.

On even dates starting at 1:00 AM, park on the even numbered side of the street, and on odd dates starting at 1:00 AM, park on the odd numbered side of the street.  If you park your car at the end of the day (before midnight), remember to anticipate that the date change will occur at midnight.  The winter parking regulations are in force from 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM each day.

For example, on the evening of December 25th, make sure your vehicle is parked on the side of the street where the houses have even numbered addresses, such as 136 W. Liberty Street, because starting at 1:00 AM on December 26th, your vehicle must be parked on the even side of the street. On the evening of December 26th, park your car on the other side of the street where the houses have odd numbered addresses, such as 137 W. Liberty Street.

The winter parking regulations do not apply to streets where parking is limited to one side of the street or streets where parking is restricted by ordinance.
